How ECA started?

Email Counselling Academy (ECA) was founded in 2023 by me, Chloe Foster.
It all started with my ebook (An Introduction to Email Counselling - available here) which created a high demand for my initial introductory courses on email counselling in 2023. Unable to keep up with the demand for live courses, I went on to develop a comprehensive recorded course (Foundations in Email Counselling) to give more fellow counsellors the chance to learn this specialist skill.
In fact, what I learned in this process was that the combination of BOTH live workshops and recorded training materials was what worked best for most students. Feedback showed me people wanted feedback and connection as well as the flexibility to study at their own pace. I therefore transformed the course into today's Professional Certificate in Email Counselling which offers a mix of self paced recorded learning, live workshops, peer group connections/discussions and tutor feedback on new skills in therapeutic writing. This course then leads on to the Advanced Certificate in Email Counselling to practice and deepen your skills further.

I launched Email Counselling Academy as the go to place to learn all the skills and confidence you need to work as an email counsellor.
Email counselling has given me the ultimate flexibility in my work as a counsellor, as well as enabling me to offer a unique and highly accessible service to my clients.

I am a clinical counselling supervisor trained with Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS) and an experienced accredited counsellor registered with The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

With a first-class degree in Education, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling at The University of Brighton, I love teaching and training and am proud to have made teaching and training an ongoing part of my career since 2003. Over my counselling career I have trained hundreds of counsellors to become more confident working with LGBTQ+ clients through my work with The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), Onlinevents, The Counselling Tutor and several universities/colleges and counselling charities.
Today, with over 7 years’ experience working as an email counsellor, I enjoy sharing the skills I have honed with fellow counsellors through the specialist training courses I designed.
